Talen Energy is seeking an Instrument and Control Foreman for the Instrument & Control Maintenance Department at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania. Susquehanna Steam Electric Station is one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., delivering approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the grid in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

About the role

The Instrument and Control Foreman provides direction and oversight for I&C crew work, enforces Maintenance Department goals, and ensures adherence to station programs, work-related procedures, work plans, and plant standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out and implement strategies to complete work assignments per scheduled times.
  • Direct and supervise work performed in the plant, labs, and shops by Maintenance Department personnel.
  • Help crew members develop work-related skills and perform task evaluations for worker certification.
  • Answer technical work-related questions for the crew.
  • Develop troubleshooting plans and direct troubleshooting activities for equipment-related problems in the power plant.
  • Enforce departmental and organizational goals and expectations.
  • Provide feedback to Planning and Work Management Departments on more cost-effective ways to perform jobs.
  • Motivate the crew while maintaining a positive attitude toward the position.
  • Maintain qualifications and expertise to lead plant response to abnormal conditions within the Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.
  • Validate job readiness for scheduled work.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Department and others to reschedule work as needed.
  • Monitor and manage the qualifications and training of direct reports.
  • Serve as the training coordinator, ensuring training and qualifications are met with both short-term and long-term training plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a nuclear power plant (or equivalent) maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing a wide variety of equipment.
  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and correct coworkers.
  • Ability to perform duties with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to provide maintenance supervision coverage outside of normal working hours when in an on-call/duty status.
  • Must qualify and fulfill Emergency Response Organization duties, including meeting a 1-hour response time while on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of power plant systems.
  • Strong technical ability on a wide range of plant equipment.
  • Task certified on equipment being reworked; Energy Control Process certified.
