Maintenance Person

About the Role

The Maintenance Person contributes to Hyatt Place Detroit/Utica's commitment to high-quality guest service and teamwork. This role is key to delivering a welcoming, helpful, and exceptional experience for hotel guests while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment. The position focuses on general maintenance and repairs in guest suites, meeting spaces, and front-of-house areas, including preventative maintenance. Additionally, the role involves repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring relevant skills and experience, as well as strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest suites, meeting spaces, and front-of-house areas.
• Conduct preventative maintenance for guest suites and public areas.
• Repair mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment for guests.
• Interact with guests and provide exceptional service in a fast-paced setting.
• Multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of building maintenance experience, with hotel experience preferred.
• Experience performing repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
• Strong command of the English language (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with guest interaction.
• Schedule flexibility for AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 20 lbs.
• Basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel).

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• Strong customer service skills, preferably in a hotel or related field.
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task effectively.
