About the role

This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of the building and grounds of the Duvall Residential work release center (DRC) and leading DRC residential work crews in providing cleaning support for the building grounds, MCCC main office, and other details in the neighborhood as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all necessary preventative maintenance, conducts maintenance inspections and repairs in the areas of carpentry, grounds, and HVAC.
  • General plumbing and electrical work.
  • Installs appliances as needed.
  • Ability to read schematics and diagrams.
  • Makes sure the conduct of work release residents is in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Escorts work release residents to locations within and outside the facility according to proper regulations and procedures.
  • Supervises and directs a crew of work release residents responsible for all grounds keeping including landscaping, cleaning, and maintaining the building, clean sidewalks, and shovel snow and spread salt on sidewalks.
  • Transports and accompanies justice involved individuals throughout the completion of an entire assignment.
  • Supervises work crew of justice involved individuals engaging in daily community clean-up, maintenance of adopted bus stops, and multiple community service projects in conjunction with local agencies.
  • Maintains attendance and participation records, and verifies all hours completed by individuals assigned to the work crews.
  • Maintains tool control and governs the control and use of all flammables, toxic and caustic materials.
  • Oversees maintenance of agency field cars including washing, upkeep, and delivery to repair shops.
  • Coordinates with outside trades persons and contractors for trash removal, sprinkler, and fire alarm systems.
  • Coordinates with outside trades persons/contractors for emergency services and repairs.
  • Completes report forms in a clear and concise manner.
  • Requests and orders supplies.
  • Responsible for maintaining all tools and equipment supplied by the county.
  • Responsible for observing and adhering to on-site safety regulations.
  • Responsible for executing a regular maintenance program for the entire facility which will include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual maintenance for the building systems.
  • May exercise judgement when determining trade specific procedures, or when making minor modifications or variations from established methods.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have at least one (1) year experience. Must be able to perform manual labor tasks. Must be able to set up and operate all necessary equipment and machinery. Ability to work with others on many levels and create a team environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively under stress. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have experience in dealing effectively with other professionals and the public. Must have a general familiarity of the city. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Within thirty (30) days of hire, required to be trained in: CPR/AED, security & security threat groups, de-escalation skills, personal protection, Narcan, PREA, mental health & suicide prevention, constitutional rights with special populations, diversity in corrections, effective communication skills, defensive driving, and report writing, among others.
  • Annual training also required, to include thirty (30) hours of Evidence Based Practices (EBP).
