Job Overview
Maintains electrical equipment, wiring and installation in a safe operating condition making necessary inspections and repairs in a technically approved and efficient manner. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with vocational or trade school training in electricity, mathematics and blueprint reading
- One to three years demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance of public buildings and safety codes

Full Time, Day shift
Essential Functions
- Assembles, installs and connects components
- Discusses repairs and service needed with department personnel
- Dismantles electrical machinery, replaces defective mechanical parts and reassembles
- Estimates quantities of materials needed and prepares requisition
- Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal communication and power circuits and equipment
- Installs new wiring and electrical machinery
- Isolates defects using testing instruments
- May perform carpentry, plastering and painting in connection with repair work
- Must exercise established safety and sanitation standards to avoid exposure to minor health and accident hazards such as falls, cuts, bruises and inhalation of vapors
- Performs all other duties as job assignment flexibility prescribes
- Performs preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment
- Performs snow removal duties as conditions dictate
- Reads blueprints and diagrams to ascertain layout, location and specifications of items to be installed
- Renews circuits by replacing defective wiring or by splicing broken wires
- Repairs electrical circuits and equipment and makes necessary replacements
- Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances to supply electrical power for lighting and equipment operation
- Wires motors, maintains and checks emergency electrical equipment
