Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on plant and office electrical systems; learn the location and purpose of all switches and breakers.
- Repair and maintain foam systems, presses, and related equipment including guns, pumps, and conveyors.
- Execute minor building repairs on doors, docks, windows, and floors.
- Collaborate with external contractors for specialized repairs (e.g., forklift service).
- Aid Lead Mechanic with parts requisition and inventory maintenance.
- Support procurement of essential supplies such as piping, channel, oils, grease, filters, and hardware.
- Construct fixtures and machine attachments using engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Adhere to safety regulations and company policies, including but not limited to lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area; ensure tools are returned to proper locations.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as per P.M. charts; troubleshoot and repair a variety of machinery including press brakes, hydraulic/air-draulic systems, forklifts, and HVAC units.
- Follow manufacturing schedules and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Perform electrical work including installation and repair of color-coded circuits, lighting, and machinery wiring with ability to read wiring diagrams.
- Weld, build, and repair metal fixtures and worktables using hand and power tools.
- Report defective materials or equipment to the department supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with safety protocols.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency with a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as parts lists, diagrams, and engineering prints.
- Welding skills required.
- Working knowledge of sprinkler, alarm, and basic security systems.
- Technical ability to read and interpret wiring and mechanical diagrams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and task prioritization.
- High level of attention to detail and thoroughness.
Minimum Requirements
- Properly utilize provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, half-face and/or Powered Air Purifying Respirators, protective clothing, and fall restraint harnesses.
- Follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Comply with all safety regulations and company policies, including but not limited to lockout/tagout.
- Completion of all assigned safety and compliance training.
- Vocational training in the field of electrical construction, plumbing and welding.
- Two years equivalent experience or more.
- Must have the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and be available for overtime when necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Frequent handling of tools and materials weighing 10–25 pounds.
- Ability to work in various conditions and environments, including but not limited to uneven, wet and/or slippery areas, extreme temperatures or noisy surroundings.
- Ability to safely climb ladders, stairs, or scaffolding and work in elevated or confined spaces.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, and other physical movements to access tools or machinery.
- Ability to detect mechanical issues via sound or alarms.
- Fine motor skills for detailed work with small components or tools.
- Safe handling of high-voltage equipment and machinery.
