Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary.
  • Absolutely must have the ability to repair electrical equipment with motors.
  • Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 year of experience in Production Maintenance.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Basic electrical and automation controls.
  • 3-5 years experience in production maintenance.
  • Basic PLC input/output troubleshooting experience.
  • Basic VFD programing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot diverse breakdowns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in various software programs such as Microsoft applications and experience with a CMMS program.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include welding machines, cutting torches and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
