Join a dynamic team of talented maintenance mechanics at a growing food production plant in Moses Lake, WA. This role is key to ensuring the efficient operation of automated production lines in a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance during scheduled process line downtime.
- Fabricate, manufacture, or assemble items based on blueprints, sketches, or schematics.
- Rebuild or remodel complex machinery such as gearboxes and motors.
- Maintain an appropriate inventory of repair parts to facilitate timely equipment repair.
- Stay current with the proper use of repair equipment through ongoing training.
- Perform specialized job functions (e.g., auto/forklift mechanic, construction electrician, instrumentation, refrigeration, machinist, electronic specialist) while remaining flexible to assist in other areas as needed.
- Adhere to safety regulations and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
- Complete behavior-based safety observations and correct unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and data management to support accurate decision-making.
- Uphold SQF 2000 principles and report any food safety, quality, or plant security issues immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Advanced skills as an industrial mechanic or industrial electrician.
- Proficiency in welding, plumbing, electrical repair, instrumentation, and operation of lathes and milling machines.
- Experience fabricating and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Own and maintain a basic set of hand tools.
- Willingness to work day, swing, and graveyard shifts, including some weekends.
Qualifications
- Two-year certificate from a college or technical school preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Strong written communication skills for creating instructions, training outlines, and reports.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one or large group settings.
- Creative problem-solving skills to apply experience and common sense to technical and personnel challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, plan work, order parts, and coordinate downtime.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Maintenance Management Software.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close and color vision.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather.
- Occasional exposure to electrical shock risk.
- Loud noise levels in the work environment.
