About the role
Pioneer Metal Finishing is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This position offers competitive pay starting at $27 - $33/hour, with a retention bonus of $1000 total after 30, 60, and 90 days. The role includes various shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) with occasional overtime and on-call availability.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with other departments to investigate and solve maintenance related problems.
- Ensure vendor issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Assists in maintaining department documentation, inventory, preventative maintenance schedules, and project log.
- Communicate at all levels of the organization, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and take input from subject matter experts.
- Maintain strong relationships with employees and provide continuous communication and performance feedback.
- Engage team members in implementing process improvements.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Resolve cited safety issues promptly.
- Adhere to all Quality System procedures and work instructions.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.
- Coordinate start-up and shutdown functions on plant equipment and facilities with Maintenance Technicians.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties.
- Work consistently to resolve safety issues.
- Work in conjunction with Human Resources on all personnel issues, including performance management and necessary disciplinary actions.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and vendors.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and potential solutions to close the gap.
Requirements
- A minimum of an associate degree in Electro-Mechanical or another related Mechanical field is preferred, but not necessary.
- Broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, HVAC.
- Preferred experience with PLC (Programming Logic Controller) and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive).
- Minimum of two years of work-related experience.
- Blueprint and schematic knowledge required.
- Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
- Learns quickly and adapts to new situations.
- Keen eye for detail to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Strong team player and ability to influence positive outcomes.
- Encouraging collaboration and fostering a positive team dynamic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
Qualifications
- Comfortable working at heights, with electrical equipment, and around chemicals.
- Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.
- Wear respiratory protection when required.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to work with various chemicals.
Skills
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing skills.
- Experience with PLC and VFD.
- Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- ISO certification experience preferred.
