About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic III is a highly skilled position requiring advanced knowledge of electricity, plumbing, and movable equipment. This role supports large hospital campuses by operating, maintaining, and repairing various electrical/plumbing systems and movable equipment. The position ensures a safe working environment and an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy, with a focus on independent problem-solving and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Resolve repair issues independently with little to no supervision.
- Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, pneumatic tube systems, beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
- Utilize technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications to complete installations and repairs.
- Prioritize work assignments and manage time and materials efficiently to complete tasks in a high-quality manner at the lowest cost.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members to achieve department goals.
- Use computer software such as Outlook, TMS, and/or Nuvolo for work management.
Requirements
- 4 or more years of commercial experience working with any of the following: electrical systems, plumbing, pneumatic tube systems, beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Oral and written communication skills to follow instructions and interact with customers.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and blueprints.
- Numerical ability for calculations related to testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair.
- Form perception and spatial ability for measuring, installing parts, and working from specifications.
- General manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School.
- 5 or more years of experience in facility maintenance within a healthcare environment.
- Electrical and/or plumbing licensure.
- ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance.
