Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains and repairs Minor -portable patient equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, IV poles, stretchers, and all types of beds)
- Maintains Minor HVAC/Plumbing repairs
- Maintains Minor electrical repairs
- Oversight of pneumatic tube systems
- Performs building maintenance tasks (i.e. hanging pictures, repairing and replacing ceiling tiles, floor tiles, cove base, light bulbs, repairing cabinetry and mounting signs)
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections and takes readings on various building systems
- Responds to emergency situations such as but not limited to power failures, fire alarms to restore equipment, elevator entrapments, and water events
- Audits contractors and permits (to include but are not limited to Above Ceiling Inspections, ICRA/PCRA inspections)
- Reviews, audits, and install firestopping systems
- Responds to calls promptly and triages work to Tradespersons as needed
- Utilizes CMMS system for documenting, managing, and communicating all maintenance activities including corrective, preventative and emergency work
- Performs light welding and metal work as necessary
- Takes responsibility for maintaining clean and safe work areas at all times
- Fulfills safety procedures in the performance of job responsibilities
- Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors
- Performs other related duties as required
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Five years practical mechanical experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
- Hospital experience preferred
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
- Knowledge of CCHS policies and procedures
- Prioritize workload and solve problems independently
- Knowledge of procedures prescribed by shop and vendor manuals
- Skill in solving mechanical and analytical problems
- Knowledge of oral and written communication
- Knowledge of operating all types of hand and power tools and electrical test equipment (i.e. screwdrivers, pliers, pipe wrenches, drills, saws, grinders, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
- Must be able to hear and orally communicate on the telephone and two-way radio system
