Maintenance Mechanic III

Essential Job Functions

• Repairing and maintaining Electronic Equipment – servicing, repairing, and fine-tuning of electronic equipment.
• Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment primarily on the basis of electrical and mechanical principles.
• Inspecting equipment to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Inspecting components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation.
• Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
• Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Installing equipment, machines, or wiring to meet specifications.
• Forklift operation as needed.
• Performing less complicated repairs and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and other facility-related equipment.
• Examining work orders and conversing with the requestor to interpret equipment problems and ascertain which method of repairs and installations are necessary.
• Aiding First Class Maintenance Mechanics on more complicated repairs and installations.
• Repairing equipment or facility related items using the needed tools.

• Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
• Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
• Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
• Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
• Knowledge of interpreting basic blueprints, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment.
• Knowledge of power equipment and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
• Plumbing and electrical skills.
• Basic computer skills required.

Education and Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Vocational degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Valid forklift operator’s permit required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum 4-year related maintenance experience required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with CNC controlled equipment.
• Must supply basic hand tools up to 1 ¼ inch.
• Should have strong electrical background.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

• Shop Floor environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors).
• Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.
• Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
