Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing various maintenance tasks, routine and semi-skilled. The basic purpose of this work is to perform various manual tasks required for upkeep of all College owned and/or leased campus buildings and homes.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance, including repairs and preventive maintenance as outlined on service requisitions using hand and power tools appropriate to the job on all college owned or leased buildings and homes.
- Assist and cooperate with all trades people and College staff, faculty and students in the performance of day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
- Assist with remodeling activities for large and small-scale projects.
- Repair faucets and other bathroom fixtures, and unclog toilets.
- Reset electrical circuit breakers and report problems to appropriate personnel.
- Replace burnt out light bulbs.
- Assemble and make minor repairs of office furniture.
- Make minor installations of bookshelves, cabinets, pictures, clocks and the like.
- Repair department equipment.
- Assist with maintenance of mechanical systems as needed, including changing and inventorying filters.
- Assist with the recycling and trash disposal program.
- Assist in completing setup and maintenance related assignments for special events, meetings and College functions.
- Perform grounds work and custodial work as needed.
- Remove snow and ice as needed.
- Plant Operations staff are considered essential personnel. In the event of the cancellation or delay of classes for any reason, maintenance staff may be required to report to work.
- All maintenance staff are responsible for reporting to work during and beyond their standard work days/hours due to inclement weather, emergency situations and special events as determined by the Director or Assistant Director of Plant Operations.
- Safety Wear appropriate safety equipment while performing all duties requiring such equipment.
- Know proper use of and where to locate all safety related equipment.
- Report hazardous and unusual situations to the appropriate authority.
Qualifications
- Education Level: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is preferred. This position requires some high school and the ability to read, write, and follow work orders.
- Security/Confidentiality: Does not have access to personal information, e.g. social security numbers, credit card information, financial account information.
- Does not have high level financial responsibility.
