Working with customers from the U.S. military, commercial business and community partners – as well as federal, state and local governments – GCE is one of the country's largest private employers of persons with disabilities.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair services to support the organization's Facilities Maintenance (FM) functions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing maintenance tasks under minimum supervision
- Working experience and knowledge of maintenance areas involving electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, building construction, and rough and finish carpentry
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions of complex nature, read and follow blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals
- Valid driver's license in the state they reside, satisfactory driving record, and insurable under the corporate policy
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on the specified contract(s)
- Ability to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate
Physical Requirements
- May travel to and from various locations and buildings throughout the year and in various weather conditions
- Most work will take place indoors
- Will work with cleaning chemicals
- Will be required to follow the Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements
- Schedules are subject to change
- Regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to assist in lifting equipment and move furniture when necessary; will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds
