MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II

About the role

Transform Healthcare Facility Maintenance Mechanic II. Performs a variety of basic and intermediate mechanical and preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities. Investigates repair needs, collaborates with other facility personnel to ensure timely completion of approved projects, and follows work orders, priorities, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and intermediate mechanical and preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities.
• Investigate repair needs and collaborate with facility personnel to ensure timely completion of approved projects.
• Receive assignments, review work orders, priority status, and time schedules, and complete work as specified.
• Identify and secure appropriate supplies and equipment; select appropriate process techniques.
• Clean, assemble, move, install, operate, test, and service portable and fixed equipment, associated mechanical equipment, and fixtures.
• Use hand and power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Repair or replace defective devices and control instruments; install special functional and structural parts.
• Detect malfunctions and maintain/repair machinery and mechanical equipment according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer specifications, and written/oral instructions.
• Document and maintain all required records and information pertinent to assignments, work orders, instruction manuals, blueprints, and related materials.
• Update practices as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Research new techniques, materials, and equipment and make recommendations to management.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required; trade or vocational school with a maintenance curriculum preferred.
• Minimum three years of maintenance experience (on‑the‑job training or apprenticeship acceptable).
• Valid Virginia driver’s license preferred (required for property‑maintenance positions).
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers and others.
• Ability to use a computerized work‑order control system.
• Ability to maintain required records and follow verbal and written instructions.
• May be asked to provide basic general‑purpose maintenance tools.
• Position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency conditions.
• Criminal history check required for property‑maintenance positions.
• May need personal transportation and be required to travel to other Carilion work sites or facilities to meet staffing needs.

Compensation

Salary range: $21.61 – $30.25 per hour. Employee pay is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The range does not include benefits or pension plan.
