Maintenance Mechanic I

Trident Seafoods is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to join our team. We are the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America, with operations in Alaska and a global presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance according to schedule and direction.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and applying precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment and machinery.
• Uses hand and power tools in a safe manner.
• Learns and follows all safety procedures and Trident Protocols.

Additional Responsibilities

• Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
• Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and proficiency with tools and equipment, a minimum of three months of related experience or training.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Troubleshooting mechanical/electrical experience.

Special Training/Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
• Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.

Mental Activities

• Understands English and utilizes teamwork skills.
• Speaks English and uses decision making skills.
• Utilizes teamwork, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills.
• Reads and writes English, performs basic math, uses exercise independent judgment, and uses discretion.
