About the Role
Position will maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems including but not limited to: pumps, motors, lamp ballasts, lamping, light to medium carpentry work, commercial door repairs, automatic door operators, light to medium sheetrock repairs, general plumbing repairs of valves, piping, and pneumatic control air systems and compressors if applicable. This role performs work from apprentice to journeyman level and conducts preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Daily Repairs
- Responds to telephoned service requests and detailed project work orders daily.
- Identifies complexity of work, tools, spare parts, and materials required.
- Prepares purchase requisitions for spare parts and materials; submits for approval and ensures timely receipt and documentation within three days.
- Completes repairs promptly and submits documentation on the date of repair.
- Assists in maintaining critical spare parts and materials inventory.
- Performs rekeying of locks, repairs automatic and manual doors, and builds or repairs locks, knobs, and handles.
- Preventative Maintenance
- Receives and assesses preventative maintenance work requests for materials, access, and scheduling.
- Conducts preventative maintenance as specified and reports any deficiencies to the Coordinator.
- Follows up on repairs of noted deficiencies to ensure compliance with Code and JCAHO Survey requirements.
- Submits completed PM documentation on the date of completion.
- Assists others in preventative maintenance efforts as required.
- Miscellaneous Duties
- Conducts monthly tours of assigned work Zone and notes required repairs.
- Inspects above-ceiling fire and smoke walls for Code-compliant sealing of penetrations.
- Notifies Coordinator of required repairs in writing.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Coordinator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in general mechanical maintenance and repairs (required).
Skills
- Basic knowledge in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, TV systems, nurse call systems, tube systems, medical air, automatic and manual doors.
- Good mechanical repair skills and light electrical skills, including troubleshooting and repair of pumps, motors, pneumatic control air systems, plumbing, commercial door repair, and automatic door operators.
- Experience in light carpentry and sheetrock work and repairs.
- Working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints.
- Basic understanding of NFPA and Life Safety Codes applicable in a healthcare environment.
- Computer literacy.
