Responsibilities
- Exercise options to proceed with suitable training to acquire knowledge and skill in other specialized areas of plant Maintenance work, subject to company approval.
- Through practical experience and specific training, continually improve knowledge and skills in reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and electronic drawings.
- Perform all necessary Maintenance work in Electrical, Millwright, Pipefitting, Welding, and operate all machines and hand tools in the Maintenance shop and field.
- Perform advanced Maintenance work in either electrical, mechanical, or other specialized areas.
- Assist other maintenance and/or production personnel in maintaining high levels of production using the safest and most efficient methods.
- Work in any department or area of the plant, which may require considerable physical effort.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of fire alarm codes, firefighting equipment locations, and proper use, including reacting promptly to incipient-stage fires.
- Perform related duties such as filling out reports, keeping logs, requisitioning materials, and accounting for time and supplies.
- Complete specified training through job experience and prescribed schooling to progress through the General Maintenance Mechanic training program.
- Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to all safety policies.
- Perform duties under normal plant conditions, which may occasionally include extreme temperatures or weather conditions.
Requirements
- High School degree required.
- Two (2) years of previous full-time General Maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; three to five (3-5) years preferred.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift and maintain the required license.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and self-management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, including navigation of various software programs and MS Office (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Must be able to wear a respirator and work in confined spaces.
- Perform duties in normal industrial environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and may encounter extreme heat, cold, wet, or dangerous weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to push/pull, grip to use hand tools, reach, see, hear, and speak.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must follow all posted security procedures and PPE requirements.
