Maintenance Mechanic
About the role
Troubleshoot and repair all production related equipment (pumps, valves, gearboxes, seals, compressors, etc.). Repair in place if possible, otherwise, remove from service and repair in mechanic shop. Disassemble components and rebuild to ensure mechanical integrity and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Be able to make ordinary installations, inspections, lubrications and repairs of all types of equipment, utilities, buildings and components.
- Assist in complete installation of equipment and systems.
- Correctly and safely use hand and powered tools as required for the regular performance of his/her work.
- Maintain records in the performance of his/her duties.
- Comply with all procedures and regulations pertaining to fire, environmental and safety issues.
- Have general knowledge of the Division’s electrical system, utilities and safety systems.
- Operate the LWTP.
- Operate and maintain the fire pumps.
- Be capable of independent mechanical work.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to electrical and instrument components and systems as required to keep continuity of operations.
- Perform layout, specification, cutting, fabrication, beading, installation, and repair of all glass and glass-lined piping, equipment, and accessories.
- Coordinate the efforts of helpers and assistants as required to perform glass or welding projects.
- Maintain knowledge of glass repair technologies.
- Perform inspections and preventive, routine, and protective maintenance of glass equipment and systems.
- Obtain and maintain a state-certified permit for all types of structural and pressure welding routinely performed in the plant.
- Perform all types of repairs primarily from the bench, e.g., rebuild pumps, valves, etc.
- Be capable of field work as needed.
- Maintain the control and organization of the maintenance stockroom.
- Comply with all procedures and regulations pertaining to fire, environmental, and safety issues.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic or electrician in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in high places.
- Ability to transport heavy tools and equipment to perform assigned jobs.
- Able to perform welding work in awkward positions for long periods of time.
- Able to wear personnel protective equipment as required by the company policy.
- Able to transport tool and equipment weighing in excess of 50lbs
