Purpose
To ensure that all work requests pertaining to guest rooms, function rooms, food outlets and public areas are maintained with a reasonable amount of repair. This position would require rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

Director of Engineering Services/Assistant Director of Engineering Services
Essential Functions
- Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by Omni Hotel, and this Engineering Department.
- Be familiar with the guest area floor plans and back of the house areas.
- Be a member of the local union trade and/or Omni requirements.
- Have a valid City of Pittsburgh Operating Engineer’s Licensed or other certified trade certificate (Hvac, electrical).
- Work independently and with limited supervision.
- Expand knowledge within this position as directed by their Supervisor.
- Observe the Engineering safety rules and all requirements.
- Follow the posted schedule for work shifts and assignments.
- Promote an open line of communication with Employees, Managers and other departments.
- Keep neat in appearance in accordance with Omni standards.
Hotel Specific Essential Functions
- Able to complete the B.E.O.’s engineering requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance on the guest and function rooms of the hotel. (C.A.R.E.).
- Perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC/heating equipment.
- Perform the House Engineer’s duties as required.
- Assist Lead Mechanics as needed.
- Use of a ladder 50% of the day.
- Access to confined areas and ceiling for valve maintenance and operation.
- Keep an environmentally safe work area at all times; floors, lighting and equipment areas.
- Report any and all equipment deficiencies to your Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Able to climb a ladder, work in high places and confined areas.
- Responsible for the daily accountability of all daily job assignments.
- Turn in written requests of needed supplies and items to reduce down time.
- Observe the Engineering and Hotel’s safety rules and all requirements.
- Have basic knowledge regarding audio sound equipment set-ups.
- Have basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical wiring, and HVAC operation and tools usage.
- Have basic knowledge of television and cable system operation.
- Assist in all types of emergency, fire, accidents, etc.
- Responsible on a day-to-day basis for the recording of all unfinished requests for follow up with Supervisor.
- Always cheerfully assist our guests. All guests’ direct requests should be accommodated in the best possible fashion.
- Report to work as scheduled while following the Time and Attendance Point System.
- Complete any other assignment or duties assigned as needed.
Tools And Equipment
- Telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine.
- Voltage, Ohms & Amperes meters.
- Allerton DDC Software.
- Lodgenet Software.
Working Environment
- Interior of hotel, in all areas of the hotel.
- Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
Physical Job Requirements (for Essential Functions Only)
- Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying - Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying required to perform inspections and repairs anywhere in or out of hotel property.
- Bending/Kneeling - Frequent bending and/or kneeling required to inspect and repair equipment.
- Mobility - 100% of mobility required in all areas of hotel property and ground.
- Continuous Standing - No continuous standing required.
- Climbing Stairs - up to approximately 90 steps 10% of work period (approximately 8 hours).
- Ladder - up to approximately 8 feet 20% of work period (approximately 8 hours).
Work Environment
- Inside 90% of work period (approximately 8 hours).
- Outside 10% of work period (approximately 8 hours).
- 5 to 95 degrees.
Hearing/Vision/Speech/Literacy
- Hearing is critical (To hear portable radio, alarms, guests).
- Vision is critical (Inspect and maintain equipment).
- Speech is critical (Respond to portable radio to base, guests).
- Literacy is critical (Read instructions, repair manuals).
Chemical/Agents Used
- Infrequent use of pesticides, paint, oil.
Protective Clothing
- Safety Shoes required.
Equipment Operation
- Electric saws, hand tools.
