About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to perform plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and household appliance repair and preventative maintenance services so that the residence halls are kept in good repair and meet all local, state, and federal regulations for safe and habitable housing. The Maintenance Mechanic will complete assigned work orders and process information through the use of an online work order system. The Maintenance Mechanic will also oversee and train student maintenance staff.Responsibilities
- Perform plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and household appliance repair and preventative maintenance services.
- Complete assigned work orders and process information through the use of an online work order system.
- Oversight and training of student maintenance staff.
- May assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Serves on the departmental on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
- Progressing experience at or near journeyman level in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry trades.
- Valid Driver’s License required. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
