About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and supporting all production machinery and equipment. This includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fabrication, and sheet metal work to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair production machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct hourly/daily visual inspections to identify malfunctions, abnormalities, or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure all equipment safety guards, covers, and devices are in place and function properly.
- Perform equipment modifications to support performance, safety, or production efficiency.
- Remove, assemble, and install industrial parts, components, or machinery as needed.
- Work with electrical systems up to 480V/ 3-phase.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments.
- Fabricate or construct parts/equipment as needed using machine shop tools (lathe, drill press, mill, hydraulic press, brakes, etc.).
- Maintain tool condition and ensure proper storage and inventory control.
- Generate and complete work orders for required parts and repairs.
- Ensure machinery produces safe, high-quality products consistent with company and regulatory standards.
- Support production teams to maintain operational efficiency and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Provide training to full-time and temporary staff on safe machine operation and maintenance basics.
- Work with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional departments on special projects, installations, and process improvements.
- Complete detailed work orders at the conclusion of each assignment.
- Follow operator manuals and contact equipment manufacturers when needed.
- Attend required meetings, including safety, sanitation, production, and quality meetings.
- Perform cleaning tasks and work assignments as designated by supervisor.
- Assist other maintenance personnel as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 + year mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Personal hand tools are required.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to perform math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and basic graph interpretation.
- Regular lifting and/or moving up to 35 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance; occasional team lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Availability to work any shift and frequent overtime, including Fridays, weekends, and holidays.
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
- 3-5+ years in mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a food/beverage or CPG manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC systems preferred.
- Experience with welding, metal fabrication, or operating machine shop equipment preferred.
- Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) proficiency for work orders and ordering parts preferred.
Pay
Pay Range: USD $19.00 - USD $34.66 /Hr.
