Maintenance & Service
The primary responsibility of a maintenance mechanic is to ensure that printing machinery and other industrial equipment operate at optimal efficiency.
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens for irregularities to identify causes of malfunction.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Servicess equipment and other items as assigned.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs special functional and structural components in machinery.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Maintains an ongoing list of miscellaneous maintenance tasks that need to be completed.
- Sets up and operates equipment and tools to manufacture and repair parts.
- Uses and reads voltmeters, computers, and tape measures.
Quality Control
Activates devices to test their performance.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Examines parts for imperfections in form or texture.
- Checks and rechecks completed work before returning machinery to service.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments as needed.
Safety
- Ensures all areas of the plant meet OSHA standards.
- Knows and follows all safety procedures.
- Reports work-related injuries to the supervisor.
