Responsibilities
- Set up repairs, rebuild and install production equipment to ensure continuous production.
- Repair malfunctioning production equipment, including fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing and boxing components.
- Install new equipment or replace equipment as required and set up line for product changeovers as needed.
- Be the primary technical leader on the shift responsible for all planned maintenance, trouble-shooting, and reducing downtime due to equipment failure.
- Assist with the training of operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions and failures, and ensure knowledge of preventive maintenance.
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems and initiate plans for corrective action.
- Maintain maximum production, safety, and quality by making necessary corrective repairs and running adjustments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical School preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment, preferably in food manufacturing or bottling.
- Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles preferred.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components.
- Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining.
Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods, up to 12 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, platforms, and other structures on equipment or buildings to inspect, operate, maintain, or troubleshoot.
- Ability to bend at the knees, twist the back, and kneel as needed to access equipment for operation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying seasonal temperatures and humidity levels.
- Ability to function effectively in areas of high noise while using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
