About the Role
First Realty Management Corp is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic in Boston. The ideal candidate can work well independently and is skilled in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, boilers, and general maintenance work.
Responsibilities
- Respond to changes in organization and property by assuming additional responsibilities as needed, such as traveling to other sites per the union contract Section 9.6 and posting provisions.
- Meet and communicate with site managers regularly to update each other on on-site issues.
- Assume on-call responsibilities for unforeseen emergencies, including weather-related emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.
- Work with the manager to coordinate contracts and oversee contractor activities.
- Respond to daily emergencies and routine service work orders in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain the appearance of the site by collecting and discarding refuse from common areas and throughout the site daily.
- Perform preventative maintenance per site requirements.
- Maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance, wearing company-issued uniforms.
- Be courteous to residents at all times.
Requirements
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
- Good communication skills and a service-minded attitude.
- Ability to share in on-call rotation and respond effectively to site emergencies.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and general repair and maintenance duties.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, Entrada, RealPage).
- Ability to fill out and complete work orders accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with site staff and residents.
- Ability to follow directions and safely operate power tools, such as saws and drills.
- Having your own tools is very helpful.
- Prior experience in apartment maintenance is helpful.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical before the start of work.
- Reliable transportation, willingness to travel when needed, and a valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing are required.
