About the role

AAM is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing machinery and equipment in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Follows safe operating procedures
  • Maintains 7S standards
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities as needed
  • Communicates with co-workers from previous and following shifts to discuss problems and concerns
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities
  • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to resolve work procedures
  • Operates lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
  • Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment
  • Orders supplies with purchase requisitions according to work orders assigned through Team Leader
  • Closes out work orders upon completion
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examines form and texture of mechanical parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspects used mechanical parts to resolve changes in dimensional requirements
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Repairs and replaces defective mechanical parts
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Lubricates and cleans parts
  • Starts devices to test their performance
  • Records maintenance actions performed in computerized maintenance system
  • Completes other tasks within job classification as assigned by Team Leader
  • Assists other associates as directed by the Team Leader and / or Supervisor

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical-related field or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • Two years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with TS-16949 Quality Systems Requirements, ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems, problem solving, forklift and scissor lifts

Skills

  • Ability to use Windows-based applications
  • Lockout/Tag out as Authorized User
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and move 40 pounds without assistance

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain lift truck certification

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
