Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities

  • Aid production in minimizing downtime at work centers.
  • Optimize equipment efficiency through cleaning, preventive maintenance, and other necessary tasks.
  • Implement facility improvements through activities like floor grinding, light installation, and painting.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Inspect parts for imperfections and assess changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust and repair functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start and run machine tools to test and verify their performance.
  • Set up and operate various metalworking tools like lathes, drill presses, grinders, and more.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires, cables, and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose and replace malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with maintenance team members to diagnose issues.
  • Replace faulty electrical components like relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.
  • Plan and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatuses.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or three to six years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
