Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Located in Adelphi, Maryland, this is an open shift position requiring availability to work any days and shifts to provide around‑the‑clock coverage 365 days a year. The role operates Monday‑Friday with variable working hours. The campus includes a hotel, a convention center, and an administrative office building.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full and thorough tour of central plant mechanical equipment each shift
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks
• Handle reactive maintenance requests
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and electrical systems
• Perform plumbing repairs
• Repair kitchen appliances
• Conduct daily building/equipment tours
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED plus trades training
• Universal CFC License
• Experience with high‑pressure steam and chillers on‑site
• Valid Driver's License
• 2‑7 years of commercial building or college campus maintenance experience
• Basic boiler and fire alarm experience
• BAS/EMS experience
• Hotel experience is a plus

Pay

Salary: $27.50 per hour

Schedule

Open shift schedule – must be available to work any days and any shifts to support 24/7, 365‑day coverage. Regular hours are Monday‑Friday with variable timing, and the role requires flexibility to float, cover shifts, and adjust the schedule as needed, including holidays and special days.
