Compensation: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour

About the role

Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all plant operating equipment and facility buildings. This role ensures compliance with all related SOPs and plant rules pertaining to RMP, PSM, safety, operating procedures, and personal conduct. The position requires diverse mechanical abilities to perform overall plant maintenance, including work in various environmental conditions such as radiant heat or cold, and physical tasks like climbing stairs and ladders and lifting within OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified welding, cutting, and burning.
  • Repair pumps, gearboxes, and motors.
  • Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment.
  • Maintain process and utility piping.
  • Inform Plant Manager of the need to order parts for job completion.
  • Complete work orders and forms related to maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance.
  • Report non-conformance issues in operations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as man lifts, forklifts, and other machinery.
  • Replace nuts and bolts in pipe flanges ranging from 1” to 48” diameter.
  • Work in 100-degree ambient temperatures while wearing protective personal equipment (e.g., acid-resistant PVC rain suit, rubber boots, gloves, and face shield).
  • Work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14–16 hour days for emergency repairs.
  • Maintain accurate weekly time sheets.
  • Follow all plant rules and regulations, including punctuality and attendance policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience in an industrial or chemical environment (highly preferred).
  • Ability to use computers effectively, including Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems, and email.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams, or schematics.
  • Ability to complete specific job function training and/or certification programs.
  • Willingness to work off-shift requirements, including periodic emergency call-outs during off-shifts, weekends, and holidays.
