Essential Job Functions
- Performs scheduled, unscheduled, routine and preventive maintenance on industrial sewing machines as well as on all plant equipment, including industrial sewing machines.
- Performs routine inspections on all plant equipment.
- Determines and carries out corrective action for diagnosed mechanical problems.
- Completes facility maintenance on required projects involving electrical wiring, plumbing, physical structures, and fixtures within the employee’s scope of knowledge.
- Works jointly with the Trainer to design/improve any machine, workstation, or fixtures that will allow a visually impaired person to perform a task.
- Provides backup for Utility Person – Maintenance.
Marginal Job Functions
- Affords assistance to other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
- Participates in training and meetings as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop and turn for a minimum of 10 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry for a minimum of 20 feet.
- Must be able to work both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- Must wear steel toed shoes.

- Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to hear and discern by sound equipment malfunctions.
- Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees.
- Must be able to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads.
- Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.
Education and Work Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in industrial sewing machine maintenance is required.
- Previous experience in physical plant maintenance is required.
- Training/experience in mechanical, electrical and general plumbing is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the company.
