About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic plans and executes the installation, maintenance, and modification of all site HVAC and mechanical systems while maintaining a safety-first mindset. May direct assigned work crew in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical system equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Checks and inspects HVAC mechanical equipment periodically to determine the need for repair or preventative maintenance.
- Carries out preventive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment and/or systems as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Diagnoses equipment failures, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions to improve reliability and minimize downtime.
- Cleans and organizes workplace to ensure both operating and safety conditions.
- Documents all work performed; complies with acceptable current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards.
- Uses critical thinking skills to determine possible causes of equipment failures.
- Develops and implements improvements for efficiency, safety, and preventative maintenance.
- Assists engineers and supervision with capital improvement projects, including acquisition, installation, startup, commissioning, rebuilding, and upgrading of HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Performs additional facility maintenance duties as directed, including framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, concrete, painting, landscaping, snow removal, etc.
- Safely operates machinery and equipment such as ladders, man-lifts, forklifts, skid steers, power tools, welders, and grinders.
- Preplans work to mitigate roadblocks and integrates safety into every task.
- Mentors and coaches co-workers on tasks related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Ensures compliance with company documents, programs, and activities related to Health, Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality Management Systems.
Requirements
- Must be able to effectively speak, read, write, and understand English to perform essential functions, including understanding policies, procedures, and training materials.
- High school education or equivalent; ability to read, write, and perform mathematics at a level required for technical work.
- Preferred: HVAC Technician Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in commercial HVAC.
- Clear understanding of troubleshooting and commissioning HVAC control circuits, as well as metal working/ductwork fabrication.
- Preferred: Experience in a highly technical environment.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Flexibility and ability to perform under abruptly changing priorities.
- Must possess and maintain a Universal EPA Certification.
Pay
Salary range is $32.00 - $35.00 per hour. Final pay determinations will depend on factors including experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
