Maintenance Mechanic A
Job Summary
Plans and executes the installation, maintenance, and modification of all site HVAC and mechanical systems. Maintains a safety-first mindset for all tasks performed. May direct assigned work crew in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for repairs, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventative maintenance of associated systems and equipment to include all HVAC and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical system equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Checks and inspects HVAC mechanical equipment periodically to determine the need to repair or conduct preventative maintenance.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment and/or systems as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and minimize downtime.
- Cleans and organizes workplace to ensure both operating and safety conditions.
- Documents all work performed; complies with acceptable current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards.
- Uses critical thinking skills to determine possible causes of equipment failures.
- Responsible for developing and implementing improvements for efficiency, safety, and preventative maintenance.
- Aids engineers and supervision with capital improvement projects, including acquisition, installation, startup and commissioning, rebuilding and upgrading of HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Performs additional facility maintenance duties as directed, including but not limited to framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, concrete, painting, landscaping, snow removal, etc.
- Must possess a safety-first culture and safely operate machinery and equipment to perform essential duties. These may include ladders, man-lifts, forklifts, skid steers, power tools, welders, grinders, etc.
- Preplans work to mitigate roadblocks and plans safety into every task.
- Mentors and coaches co-workers on performing tasks related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
Requirements
- High school education and ability to read, write, and perform mathematics at a level to complete technical work.
- Minimum 5 years related experience in commercial HVAC.
- Clear understanding of troubleshooting and commissioning HVAC control circuits as well as metal working/ductwork fabrication.
- Prefer experience in a highly technical environment.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Able to work overtime as necessary.
- Flexibility and ability to perform under abruptly changing priorities when necessary.
- Possess and maintain a Universal EPA Certification.
