About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic Level A position supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company facilities, equipment, and systems. The role involves performing highly skilled maintenance and repair work, installing equipment, and serving as a backup Class A Driver.
Responsibilities
- Work from blueprints/schematics to perform maintenance/repair or install equipment.
- Report materials and replacement parts needed for jobs; prepare and maintain maintenance invoices as required.
- Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (i.e., Brood Maintenance Mechanics, Classes B and C).
- Wire and install motors, switches, fuses, lighting, relays and control devices.
- Determine proper size and specifications of plumbing pipe, fittings, valves, etc., for both water and gas.
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance repairs/corrections on pumps, motors, foggers, heaters, feed systems, vaporizers, injectors, etc.
- Install, connect, adjust, and calibrate (i.e., temperature, flow, pressure, etc.) pneumatic gauges, meters, etc.
- Maintain safety, housekeeping, and sanitation and disease control requirements while performing job duties.
- Pick up and deliver parts, supplies and equipment to Crews.
- Move equipment for cleanup and set up crews as required.
- Maintain Truck in a clean and safe condition.
- Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections and reports.
- Adhere to all safety and disease prevention regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of training, one-the-job and/or formal schooling.
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision and complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work from a ladder.
- At least 18 years old.
- Valid California Driver's License and an acceptable DMV record.
- Able to take after hour calls, and job assignments as necessary.
- Able to give direction, lead and train other lower-level mechanics.
- Able to maintain a pleasant and harassment free work environment at the job sites.
- Pass a DOT medical exam (get a Medical Examiner’s Certificate).
- Pass a DOT Pre-employment D&A test and background check).
- Pass Clearinghouse background (FMCSA Requirement).
- Able to climb a 14-foot ladder to roll a tarp from the top of the truck.
- Able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays if necessary; further, must be able to adjust starting/stopping times when schedules change.
- Able to perform physical labor (bending, stooping, shoveling, and lifting 60 lbs.).
- Good English communication skills both verbal and writing.
- Able to always abide by all biosecurity and safety guidelines at all times.
- Ability to be certified forklift and tractor driver.
