This position reports to the Assistant Manager and is located in Bakersfield, CA. FLSA status is non-exempt, and the employment category is full-time regular.

Responsibilities

The primary function of this role is to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect monitoring and recording devices, ensuring their integrity and operation. The Instrumentation Technician will also perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and rebuilds on equipment, while adhering to established performance and product quality standards.

  • Proficiency with instrument, communication, and calibration protocols such as 4-20 mA, 0-10 VDC, HART Communicator, PID tuning and calibration, and 3-15 PSI I/P’s, as well as knowledge of Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Coordinate electrical and instrument plans across three shifts of instrument control technicians for technical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Assist in creating and verifying current spare parts inventories for plant equipment.
  • Assist in managing and reducing repair costs.
  • Ensure scheduled work assignments are completed on time with required documentation.
  • Open, close, and complete work orders for repairs.
  • Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test industrial instrumentation for level, flow, pressure, temperature, position, and water analysis.
  • Troubleshoot telemetry and process controller hardware.
  • Maintain functional knowledge of telemetry system software and hardware.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing potential issues, and servicing metering control instruments (cleaning, lubricating, calibrating, and adjusting).
  • Plan, install, and place new metering, controlling, and recording devices into service, including calibration and electrical circuit connections.
  • Support calibration of test apparatus and equipment, including recordkeeping.
  • Monitor and communicate operating shift activities with supervision, other shifts, and departments.
  • Suggest predictive maintenance repairs to reduce business unit downtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field; or four (4+) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of database software, intranet and internet software, and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Proven, reliable work history.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse employee population and internal/external customers.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret technical journals, drawings/diagrams, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/repairs simultaneously, set priorities, and proactively resolve challenges in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume food production/manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of JDE software.

Physical Demands

  • May require walking, sitting, standing, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 50+ pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to cold (34°F) or sub-zero temperatures.

Schedule

3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM). Overtime and weekends may be mandatory when business requires.

Pay

$29–$34 per hour.
