Maintenance Mechanic- 2nd shift

About the Role

Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment, property, and buildings associated with Company operations. Accountable for ensuring 100% compliance with applicable safety and operating standards. Maintains all documents, records, and files to support Maintenance department activities. Based on skill set, knowledge, and expertise, individuals may be classified into wage grades ranging from Maintenance Mechanic A-4 to Maintenance Mechanic A-1.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and perform routine maintenance on all equipment, property, and buildings in compliance with Maintenance Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe operations and adherence to quality standards.
• Complete assigned daily scheduled inspections of equipment, property, and buildings, taking corrective action as needed, including restricting or removing equipment from operations.
• Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance in line with Maintenance Department SOPs.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair reported equipment, property, and building problems, consulting others as needed to ensure solutions meet or exceed safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Maintain inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance schedules, logs, files, and records.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Management and other Company Managers to schedule and complete maintenance with minimal disruption to daily operations.
• Properly store and maintain all company-issued tools and equipment, requisitioning new tools or replacements for Manager approval.
• Pursue self-improvement through coursework, seminars, and readings to continually develop maintenance skills, knowledge, and expertise.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Five (5) years of Maintenance Mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in maintaining a broad range of equipment in a heavy manufacturing environment and diagnosing plant and equipment operating problems.
• Proficiency with common hand and power tools.
• Experience with Electrical Power Distribution (480v/3 Phase) required.
• Experience with common PC office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
• Must pass in-house certification for tow motor and hi-reach operation within 14 days of hire.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Pipe installation experience desired.
• Overhead Crane experience preferred.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or water distribution systems desired.

Working Conditions

• Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors.
• Atmospheric Conditions: Indoors in a Maintenance Shop environment; outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Temperature Extremes: Outdoor work in temperatures below 32°F and above 100°F.
• Materials, Tools, and Equipment Used: Common hand and power tools, welding (gas/stick/MIG) and burning equipment, vehicle and manufacturing diagnostic tools, personal computer, printer, telephone, copier, and fax machine.
• Required Safety Equipment: Hardhat, steel-toe boots, industrial safety glasses, hearing protection, work gloves, and respirator.

Performance Evaluation

Performance is evaluated objectively based on the condition of assigned equipment, property, and buildings, the timely completion of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance, and the accuracy of maintenance records. Subjective evaluations consider Manager satisfaction with completed tasks, productivity, demonstrated skill set, creativity in maintenance and repairs, and ongoing skill development.

Pay

$30 - $42 per hour.
