Maintenance Mechanic 2 - Building Maintenance

About the role

This position is responsible for performing journey-level maintenance work required to accomplish all phases of building maintenance and construction work. The work location is at the Washington Youth Challenge Academy, located in Bremerton, WA.

Responsibilities

• Journey-level work in the completion of assigned maintenance and repair efforts.
• Maintenance and repair efforts via work orders as assigned.
• Journey-level work in the completion of assigned non-repair efforts.
• Non-repair and non-maintenance efforts via work orders as requested by customers (e.g., whiteboards, moving furniture, inspecting facilities, etc.).
• Journey-level work in the completion of assigned preventative maintenance efforts.
• Preventative maintenance assignments for mechanical, electrical and/or structural items.
• Affords assistance to grounds and custodial crews as assigned.
• Performs grounds efforts (e.g., mowing, edging, and pruning).
• Performs custodial efforts (e.g., cleaning and trash removal).
• Performs snow removal and/or debris removal efforts.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 1; OR
• A high school diploma or GED; AND
• Three years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or building repair work.

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and maintenance work.
• Occupational hazards and work safety requirements/programs.

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

• To perform journey level work in all types of building maintenance.
• To read plans and blueprints.
• To effectively layout and perform all types of building maintenance and construction installation, alteration, and repairs.
• To perform basic grounds and custodial services.
• To utilize Microsoft Windows operating systems.
