U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service, is seeking Maintenance Mechanics in Philadelphia to maintain and operate HVAC/R systems in a commercial/industrial environment.
About the role
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of RTUs, AHUs, VFDs, MURs, boilers, chillers, energy management systems, refrigeration, and all associated equipment. You will observe and interpret system readings, adjust controls for safe and efficient operation, record operational data, and keep machinery in good working order. The role involves routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance, as well as emergency response in a 24/7 correctional facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform all repairs and maintenance of heating, cooling, and ventilating components.
- Handle high-level HVAC tasks involving piping systems, motors, controllers, pneumatic systems, and chilled water.
- Maintain air handlers and mechanical equipment by changing filters, belts, oil, cleaning coils, and drain pans.
- Operate, install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment such as air handlers, exhaust fans, automatic valves, pneumatic/electrical controls, refrigeration systems, and space heating/cooling units.
- Respond to emergencies such as floods and power outages.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
- Maintain records of maintenance services, repairs, and supplies.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Three years of maintenance experience plus two years in a boiler room attending boilers and chillers (large commercial facility preferred).
- Ability to operate building automation systems.
- Universal Refrigeration Certification (required).
- Philadelphia Class A license (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must provide own basic hand tools and test equipment.
- Able to read and speak English clearly.
- Able to climb ladders and walk long distances.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work in all climate conditions.
- Able to pass background investigation (no criminal history), pre-employment drug screening, and random drug testing.
- Must be available to work overtime when required.
