Maintenance Manufacturing Assistance Instructor II

About the role

The Maintenance Manufacturing Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training in maintenance that develop technical skills related to industrial maintenance and manufacturing systems for the RAMI/TRAIN project in Brownsville and the COAST project in Corpus Christi. This role teaches students how to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met.

What you'll do

• Deliver training to a broad audience including maintenance workers, production supervisors and technicians in a variety of manufacturing companies through maintenance courses which focus on improved production equipment reliability and performance
• Use knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction
• Use a variety of media to present course materials
• Assist in curriculum development projects to maintain course relevance and support customer needs
• Assist in scheduling training deliveries, coordinates participant registration and logistics, compiles data, and ensures quality control measures are met
• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with students, customers and internal support personnel
• Determine course goals and objectives for BCS course developments
• Use a variety of instructional techniques for presenting course material; develop instructional techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles
• Initiate and maintain interactive classroom discussions; provide positive reinforcement and motivational incentives
• Monitor learner performance; evaluate and assess instructional effectiveness
• Coordinate and collaborate with other personnel assigned to the program, other programs, divisions, and entities to maintain and further develop the program
• Assist in the curriculum and technical assistance efforts in support of the RAMI/TRAIN and COAST Project, as well as other deliveries as assigned
• Provide status updates to the program director regarding change requests
• Work with points of contact from clients and jurisdictions for coordination, development, preparation efforts as needed
• Assist in marketing courses
• Ensure completion and collection of student attendance rosters, registration forms, pre-test/post-tests, course evaluations, and delivery records forms
• Submit time worked and travel expenses/receipts within the required time frame
• Interact professionally and respectfully with students, staff, and external partners
• Follow all dress codes associated with work activity
• Maintain and safeguard assigned divisional equipment and property
• Maintain a professional appearance and organized workspace
• Perform additional work duties as assigned

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, manufacturing, or applicable field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Five years of hands-on maintenance experience
• One year of experience in adult education and/or training in maintenance operation principles
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment

Equivalency: Will consider an Associate's Degree with seven years of hands-on maintenance experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with nine years of hands-on maintenance experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
• Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish at a proficient level
• Experience mechanical and electrical systems
• Experience with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing automation, robotics and industry 4.0

• Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills necessary to interact with students, business and community leaders
• Proficient use of the principles and methods for instructing and training individuals and groups of various sizes
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

• Ability to multitask, work independently, collaborate with a team and work cooperatively with others
• Ability to present course material using a wide variety of media and technology
• Working knowledge of essential office software and instructional programs (Windows and macOS), Office Suites (Microsoft Office, G Suite), presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems

Physical requirements

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to regularly use computer/keyboard
• Ability to support training delivery for up to 8-10 hours/day
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions during construction
• Physical conditioning consistent with movement of training equipment, wearing personal protective equipment during instruction as needed, designing, developing, and deploying curriculum for classroom and online training delivery up to 50 lbs
• Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving

Pay

$6,250.00 per month

Schedule

This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.

Location

Brownsville, Texas. Reports to the Project Manager - TRAIN Project.

This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding and is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance. This position may require travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines. As part of TEEX's mission, this position could be required to deploy within the State of Texas as directed.
