Maintenance Manager (MM)

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team at Highgate Senior Living. This position is full-time with flexible hours and involves caring for residents' suites, gathering spaces, and the building's mechanical systems. Key responsibilities include overseeing the Life Safety program, training team members and residents, and executing safety drills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Life Safety program
• Train team members and residents on safety protocols
• Execute routine safety drills
• Maintain awareness of regulations and requirements
• Manage the care of residents' suites and communal spaces
• Oversee major and minor mechanical systems
• Ensure the building's exterior and grounds are maintained
• Provide customer service to seniors

Requirements

• Organized and detail-oriented
• Positive and self-motivated attitude
• Experience in facilities maintenance, equipment repair, interior painting, wall repair, groundskeeping, safety programs, and budgeting
• Strong communication and critical thinking abilities
• Customer service skills, ability to intuit and problem solve
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
• Computer skills or ability to learn new software
• Knowledge necessary to perform common household repairs
• Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, drywall repair skills
• Ability to pivot and change direction
• Ability to safely operate various types of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of effective housekeeping programs for multi-unit buildings
• Ability to take feedback and incorporate it into efforts
• Understanding or willingness to learn basic maintenance and housekeeping practices
• Hardworking with a get-it-done attitude
• Understanding or willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age
• Ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certification
• Current negative TB test
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move continuously during work hours
• Ability to carry or transfer up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Ability to pass criminal record/background check
• Efficient and good time management skills
• Ability to work independently with little oversight
• Track record of top-notch organizational abilities and communication skills
• Full capability with hand and power tools
• Valid driver license with clean driving abstract
• Willingness to attend and incorporate different types of training into work efforts

The hourly wage range for this position is $27.00 to $33.00 per hour. Prior experience working with seniors is a plus.
