Maintenance Manager
About the role
The Maintenance Manager at Wyman-Gordon, located in Princeton KY, oversees the maintenance departments to ensure the availability of production equipment and facilities. This role involves managing a union workforce, developing safety protocols, and contributing to the company's budgetary and long-term equipment rehabilitation plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop intimate and thorough knowledge of critical equipment to troubleshoot, optimize, and drive efficiencies.
- Manage budget, schedule, subcontractors, and internal personnel on projects.
- Maximize availability of tools and equipment through prompt and reliable maintenance.
- Ensure a well-trained and properly motivated workforce and supervisory staff.
- Initiate and control cost-effective methods of operation for the Plant Maintenance Department.
- Develop safe and well-maintained departmental areas.
- Contribute to the Company's current and long-range budgetary equipment rehabilitation programs consistent with Company objectives.
- Effectively interpret and administer the Company and bargaining unit documents.
- Initiate operating improvements through innovative maintenance techniques.
- Manage, update, and control the preventative maintenance program on the plant and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Navigate, instruct, and engage a union workforce.
- Manage on-call responsibilities (24/7).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or technical certification and/or equivalent work experience.
- Mechanical, Electrical Engineering Degree highly preferred.
- Thorough technical and mechanical knowledge.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of heavy industry mechanical systems including High Pressure Hydraulics.
- Proven track record of maintenance planning and project management.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in Heavy Manufacturing (Steel making, automotive or forging preferred).
- Union shop experience preferred.
- Experience in maintenance planning and CMMS system a plus.
Special Skills And Physical Requirements
- Plant working conditions: hazardous, dirty, and subject to weather and temperature extremes.
- Serve on an on-call basis (24/7), responding to issues and concerns.
