Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department including staffing, reporting and compliance.
- Plan, assign, and prioritize work assignments of Maintenance Technicians.
- Responds to ongoing challenges by recommending improvements in repair methods.
- Identifies areas of operational conflicts with departmental procedures and suggests alternative solutions.
- Produces and submits weekly reports as requested by management.
- Purchases of parts and sourcing according to company guidelines while adhering to purchasing requirements.
- Implements and enforces department best practices and procedures as prescribed by Plant Manager.
- Works in conjunction with Human Resources and department management in the recruiting, hiring and training of new maintenance employees.
- Implements and ensures all company safety practices, policies, and procedures are being followed by all employees as prescribed by management.
- Maintain and write standard operating procedures for the maintenance department.
- Perform advanced maintenance actions such as building repair, rolling stock repair, automation control calibration and repair, etc.
- Maintain the preventative maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities.
- Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
- Develop and maintain an accurate and organized parts inventory.
- Compute estimates and research costs of materials, labor, and/or outside contractors.
- Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
- Supervise maintenance personnel and follow up on employee’s evaluations, expectations, and results.
Qualifications
- High School Education and Technical Training (Preferred).
- Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Minimal 5 Years Maintenance Experience.
- Minimal 2 Years Supervisory Experience.
- Understand and operate environmental controls, alarm systems, backup power, and other technology.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drives, gearboxes and general movement of equipment and materials.
- Strong knowledge of three phase 480/240 VAC motors and circuits; 110 VAC control circuits and motor starters with overload protection.
- High level of mechanical aptitude with plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
