Job Summary

At Danone, we're seeking a Maintenance Manager for our plant in Eugene (Springfield), Oregon. This role involves managing all aspects of plant maintenance, focusing on predictive/preventive maintenance and machine reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the site maintenance team—coaching, mentoring, and providing regular performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and alignment with Danone Behaviors and IWS principles.
  • Partner with HR to address employee relations matters and drive team engagement.
  • Oversee maintenance planning, prioritization, and execution in collaboration with production, quality, and engineering.
  • Manage overtime, workload distribution, and resource allocation to achieve cost-effective maintenance performance.
  • Maintain regular floor presence to understand issues firsthand and support timely problem resolution.
  • Lead all safety, quality, and reliability initiatives within the maintenance function.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, GMPs, plant rules, WISER, and Danone policies.
  • Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work environment while promoting safe work habits and employee accountability.
  • Analyze maintenance trends, equipment performance, and data to identify losses and implement improvement strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise for mechanical, electrical, information, and process control systems.
  • Communicate with operating departments to identify optimization opportunities and implement process control improvements.
  • Deliver training on maintenance systems, process changes, equipment updates, and DMS tools; evaluate and qualify technicians as needed.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide targeted training to strengthen technical capability across the team.
  • Maintain personal professional development through corporate and external training opportunities.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and capital/maintenance projects with engineering, contractors, and internal partners.
  • Plan and manage scheduled downtimes, shutdowns, and maintenance activities to support operational needs.
  • Optimize plant energy usage through proactive monitoring and efficiency initiatives.

Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
  • Bend & stoop at waist level, bend & twist neck and head.
  • Sit at a computer/desk using manual dexterity in various computer programs.
  • Sometimes sit, stand, climb stairs, step ladders, stool, and stand for hours on hard concrete.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Engagement in our Integrated Work Systems

  • Adhere to plant standards and procedures (GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE).
  • Implement and deploy IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management).
  • Owning your space, performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature), and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Formal project management training or certifications are preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within a maintenance, engineering, and/or technical project management role in an industrial environment is required. 10+ years' manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other high-speed CPG manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience in leading and managing technical disciplines and budgets in a manufacturing organization is required.
  • Prior experience leading a technical function within a TPM/IWS or other similar lean manufacturing methodology is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members and hold teams accountable.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
  • Demonstrated fundamental skills in influencing and persuasion.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, MVP or other CMMS system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, draw conclusions, and make recommended solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work self-directed with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust schedule to support a 24/7 manufacturing plant, which may include working overtime, various shifts, and/or weekends, as needed.
