Maintenance Lead Person

Job Summary

Fills in for the Maintenance Supervisor when absent. Performs regular maintenance, electrical, or utilities work as required.

Essential Functions

• Assign work in the absence of the supervisor.
• Maintain work activities and advise or instruct as necessary.
• Respond to maintenance, electrical, or utilities calls and send personnel as needed.
• Attend scheduling meetings to understand shift needs.
• Coordinate maintenance work within the shift.
• Monitor radio calls for maintenance help and get involved as necessary.
• Assist maintenance, electrical, or utilities personnel with ongoing repairs.
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with HACCP, USDA, and Food Safety (SQF) guidelines.
• Maintain communication with supervisors, production, and QA.
• Able to lift 50 lbs or more while performing maintenance.
• Work overtime as required or assigned.
• Perform various maintenance tasks including electrical wiring, pipe fitting, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, automatic equipment operation, PLC troubleshooting, ammonia systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for up to 8 hours per day.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects.
• Must meet Maintenance/Utilities back and task requirements.
• Must display strong problem-solving skills.
• Must pass Company math test.
• Must complete power jack/forklift training course, Lock Out/Tag Out, and Hazard Communication training courses.
• Must be able to perform all types of welding and produce quality welds meeting USDA approval.
• Must meet Journeyman Mechanic, Electrical, Utilities, or equivalent in knowledge and experience.
• Must be able and available to work overtime as required.
