Job Summary
Fills in for the Maintenance Supervisor when absent. Performs regular maintenance, electrical, or utilities work as required.
Essential Functions
- Assign work in the absence of the supervisor.
- Maintain work activities and advise or instruct as necessary.
- Respond to maintenance, electrical, or utilities calls and send personnel as needed.
- Attend scheduling meetings to understand shift needs.
- Coordinate maintenance work within the shift.
- Monitor radio calls for maintenance help and get involved as necessary.
- Assist maintenance, electrical, or utilities personnel with ongoing repairs.
- Ensure all installations and repairs comply with HACCP, USDA, and Food Safety (SQF) guidelines.
- Maintain communication with supervisors, production, and QA.
- Able to lift 50 lbs or more while performing maintenance.
- Work overtime as required or assigned.
- Perform various maintenance tasks including electrical wiring, pipe fitting, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, automatic equipment operation, PLC troubleshooting, ammonia systems knowledge.
Qualifications
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects.
- Must meet Maintenance/Utilities back and task requirements.
- Must display strong problem-solving skills.
- Must pass Company math test.
- Must complete power jack/forklift training course, Lock Out/Tag Out, and Hazard Communication training courses.
- Must be able to perform all types of welding and produce quality welds meeting USDA approval.
- Must meet Journeyman Mechanic, Electrical, Utilities, or equivalent in knowledge and experience.
- Must be able and available to work overtime as required.
