About the Role

In this role, the job holder is a Subject Matter Expert responsible for leading and/or supporting technical engineering projects. Projects will be executed in accordance with internal processes and procedures and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, working with internal and external partners. The position may include people management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, plan, and support technical projects, ensuring completion in a safe and timely manner.
  • Oversee equipment repairs and lead the Maintenance team through root cause investigations.
  • Act as the last escalation point for maintenance troubleshooting before issues are escalated to the Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering in the manufacture and start-up of new equipment, leading Maintenance in SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) completion.
  • Maintain machine and equipment drawings as needed.
  • Work with Engineering to ensure plant compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Document projects in the West project management system, monitor budgets, and provide regular status reports.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders, external planners, and suppliers for technical clarification.
  • Work with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Engineering to ensure equipment meets OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), and direct completion of corrective actions.
  • Examine See-Do-Say and Continuous Improvement ideas for feasibility and coordinate completion of chosen ideas.
  • Routinely evaluate and review employee performance, documenting substandard behavior.
  • Assume responsibility for material purchasing as required.
  • Provide assistance and make recommendations to other Company facilities as needed.
  • Promote and support a Lean environment within the facility.
  • Participate in validation activities as needed, either on-site or off-site.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Engineering diploma, formal trade school, vocational training, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive maintenance and leadership experience (may substitute for educational requirements).
  • Experience with FDA regulations related to Facilities, Maintenance, and Equipment repair (required).
  • Experience in plastic injection and/or medical device manufacturing (preferred).
  • Experience in managing projects (required).
  • Experience with automation systems (required).

Skills

  • Ability to direct department personnel in all relevant safety requirements related to work standards and equipment.
  • Understand and direct department personnel in all relevant quality requirements as per the company quality policy.
  • Understand all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy.
  • Support and contribute to Lean programs and activities toward delivery of plant targets.
  • Understanding of facility and production equipment.
  • Ability to read various schematics, including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Ability to troubleshoot facility and production equipment issues and direct maintenance personnel in these activities.
  • Ability to present complex issues in a comprehensible manner.
  • Process-oriented thinking combined with a structured, independent, and implementation-oriented way of working.

Qualifications

  • Certification in one or more key trades (preferred).

Schedule

This position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% travel, equivalent to approximately 26 business days per year.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work—exerting up to 10 lbs/4 kg of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
