Maintenance Lead

Responsibilities
- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in warehouse or production areas (e.g., hairnets, beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, seatbelts while operating forklifts).
- Adhere to food quality and food safety standards, including Safe Quality Food requirements.
- Perform complex corrective and preventative maintenance, applying thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles.
- Ensure equipment upgrades comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Minimize downtime by managing replacement/spare parts through preventative maintenance, following manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Assist in scheduling maintenance personnel to cover production line needs.
- Contribute to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled, and breakdown maintenance downtime and associated costs to meet CPC (cost per case) goals; share best practices across the enterprise.
- Review daily preventative maintenance (PM) sheets and ensure work completion.
- Update work orders to reflect changes in production lines.
- Coordinate and address equipment failures promptly to minimize downtime.
- Support Electricians and Mechanics with machine issues on the production floor.
- Assist in training Electricians/Mechanics on production equipment and maintain the Lockout/Tagout Program.
- Coordinate parts requirements with the Parts Coordinator.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects and support initiatives with technical expertise.
- Escalate unresolved downtime issues exceeding plant targets.
Requirements
- Thorough technical knowledge in industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards, and codes.
- Understanding of maintenance practices and objective, fact-based decision-making.
- Proficient in SAP.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Electrician or Millwright certification (Dual Ticket – Electrician/Millwright an asset).
- 3-5 years of production/line machine maintenance experience.
- Line maintenance experience within a food and beverage production environment preferred.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, and overnights may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.
Work Environment: Fast-paced production plant with moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can vary (hot or cold). The environment is structured and supervised.
Travel Requirements: Rarely anticipated.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing or sitting.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. (minimum 5 lbs.).
- Frequent carrying, walking, and climbing (stairs/ladders).
- Occasional driving.
- Visual/Sensory: Attention to detail requiring focus with one or two senses at a time.
- Coordination and Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise equipment control.
- Mental Stress: Pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, and accuracy demands.
