Maintenance Lead

Directly reports to the Plant Manager.

About the role

Performs and supervises plant maintenance of rendering process equipment, ensuring equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
  • Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
  • Follows preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment.
  • Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities.
  • Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed by plant personnel, in accordance with OSHA.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and regularly scheduled safety inspections.
  • Manages daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion.
  • Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may serve on Safety Committee.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory position or overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting, or equivalent combination.
  • Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment and/or vocational training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures.
  • Prior rendering experience (preferred).
  • Advanced welding experience/skills (preferred).
  • Vocational school training (preferred).
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Team player; works well with others.
  • Detail oriented and well organized.
  • Good math skills.

Schedule

Day Shift: 6:00am - 6:00pm

  • Constantly exposed to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments such as high noise level, strong odors, and/or exposure to heat and cold.
  • Constantly exposed to bio hazardous conditions.
  • Constantly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations.
  • Constantly exposed to electrical hazards; risk of electrical shock.
  • Constantly handles or works with potentially dangerous equipment.
  • Occasionally travels to offsite locations.

Physical Demands

  • Constantly walks: must be able to move about inside/outside office or work location.
  • Constantly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel: operates a computer and other office machinery.
  • Constantly stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls: must be able to position oneself to maintain equipment.
  • Constantly climbs or balances: must be able to ascend/descend on a ladder.
  • Constantly talks, hears, tastes, smells: must be able to use senses to effectively communicate and detect hazardous conditions.
  • Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Vision Demands

  • No special vision requirements.
