Maintenance Lead

Repairs, maintains, and rebuilds machines as well as the overall facility as needed. Performs preventative maintenance duties and responds to breakdowns in a professional and timely manner. Responsible for task assignment and ensuring the team of maintenance personnel has proper tools and materials to complete tasks and safety huddles. Advises supervisor/manager of any issues pertaining to operation of machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel.
  • Provide technical and problem-solving support for the plant and maintenance crews.
  • Lead and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), major breakdown analysis, and reliability investigations.
  • Lead activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Support and execute plant-specific maintenance strategies to achieve key performance goals for overall maintenance performance.
  • Assure production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Manage department Fiix system, including PMs, PM audits, equipment, purchase orders, work order histories, and employee time.
  • Perform duties as plant Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Hot Works Program, Fall Protection Program, and Confined Space Program.
  • Drive a Safety Culture; help lead the plant’s safety-first culture and follow a “Never Walk By” safety policy.
  • Support Daikin’s OPM/Lean continuous improvement and Autonomous Maintenance programs.
  • Lead, oversee, and delegate work orders and any maintenance projects that arise.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Install, service, repair, inspect, and program all electrical, programmable, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Respond to emergency calls on all shifts.
  • Report any injury, unsafe act or condition, equipment failure, or potential failure.
  • Train and provide direction to employees within the department.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Requirements

  • Able to follow supervisor’s general written/verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Provides direction to maintenance technicians.
  • Resolves routine questions and problems; coordinates complex issues to others.
  • Demonstrates awareness of the relative urgency of tasks and responds accordingly.
  • Safe work habits, following proper LOTO and other OSHA requirements.
  • “Advanced” skills in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair (At minimum Technician Level 2 skills in mechanical and electrical).
  • Must have own maintenance tools, including 480-volt and 3-phase electric voltmeter, and able to use them effectively.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently use various maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work with electrical circuits including 24-volt controls, 120-240 volt, single- and three-phase service.
  • Capable of using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Must be able to read and understand written and verbal policy, instruction, and directions in English.
  • Basic ability to use Windows-based computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC, I/O Logic, AC/DC drives.
  • Experience using computer systems, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Experience using a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
  • Ability to train team members and lead project teams.
  • Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethics, and integrity on the job.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • 5 years of experience with DC drives, servos, solenoids, photo eyes, relays, limit switches, and electric motors.
  • 7 years of experience with Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical field or graduation from a trade school; certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
