About the role

This position is responsible for all facets of general maintenance at the Wichita site, supporting overall objectives through troubleshooting, repairs, and adherence to company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all Safety policies and procedures as outlined within Newell Brands’ Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) program.
  • Drive success through the Company’s Planning, Engagement, Awareness, and Knowledge (PEAK) continuous improvement program.
  • Uphold Newell Brands Values and the Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation for compliance with housekeeping standards.
  • Submit labor hours within the Micromain system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment, including electrical, HVAC, chillers, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLCs, and mechanical systems.
  • Follow equipment prints, sketches, and schematics for routine maintenance.
  • Tear down and overhaul equipment components such as pumps, valves, regulators, and motors.
  • Complete required reports and documentation for assigned work and inspections.
  • Understand mechanical components and their interaction with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Perform welding tasks (preferred but not required).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shift Coordinators and the Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Trade school maintenance program or 2-year Associate degree.
  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with coworkers and management.
  • Proficiency in basic math, including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, algebra, and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
