Maintenance I
About the role
The Maintenance I is responsible for performing general maintenance and cleaning tasks across NEVHC clinics and corporate offices, including minor repairs, equipment upkeep, waste management, and maintaining cleanliness in all areas. Ensures infection control standards are met, responds to urgent issues, and reports maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.

- Reports maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate equivalency.
- Basic understanding of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components, with the ability to identify issues and perform minor repairs safely and effectively.
- Must have a current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier.
- Must obtain and present a driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles that is no older than 30 days to demonstrate a clean and responsible driving history. An updated driving record must be submitted annually to maintain driving eligibility.
- Must be willing to enroll in and comply with the California Department of Motor Vehicles Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program, which allows NEVHC to monitor the applicant’s driving record on an ongoing basis to ensure continued eligibility for driving-related duties.
- Must be able to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching to retrieve or deliver items.
- Demonstrates reliability and professionalism in responding to urgent maintenance needs, troubleshooting facility issues, collaborating effectively with staff, and completing tasks efficiently within required timeframes.
- Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.
- Ability to read and understand labels, safety instructions, and tool manuals in English.
- Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translates, reads, writes) is preferred.
