Maintenance, HVAC & Electrical /AS1335P

About the Role

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all physical plant systems at an educational institution in Perkinston, MS. The role requires multi-craft skills and reports to the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and troubleshoot HVAC or electrical problems.
• Maintain inventory of HVAC and electrical supplies and materials.
• Maintain HVAC and electrical tools and equipment.
• Work with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors.
• Operate and maintain hot water generators, cooling systems, pneumatic controls systems, and CFC certification.
• Troubleshoot general maintenance breakdowns and failures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Resolve general maintenance issues such as plumbing, carpentry, welding, mechanics, and painting.
• Work under direction and perform all duties as assigned, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
• Maintain a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain required certifications and job-related competencies.
• Perform other related duties in support of the college’s mission and goals.

This position requires climbing ladders, working on rooftops, and other physically demanding duties, including lifting at least 70 lbs. Physical mobility and manual dexterity are required. Working hours may be adjusted as needed to serve students and employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of four years of experience in electrical repair and HVAC.
• Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification.
• Control system experience at all levels.

• Maintenance-related educational experience, vocational training, or industrial training.
• Effective communication with college personnel at all levels.
• Email and computer experience.
• Experience working with a computerized energy management system.
