About the role

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, seeks a dedicated individual to perform janitorial and property maintenance tasks at the Santa Monica Corps facility. This position also involves scheduling and implementing vehicle maintenance and responding to resident issues.

Responsibilities

• Clean all rooms, kitchen, and offices of the corps building.
• Fix and repair any facility issues on property.
• Power-wash sidewalks, front patio, and parking lot as needed.
• Maintain safe, clean, welcoming environment in and around the alleyway between Silvercrest and Corps.
• Greet guests, Silvercrest residents, and Corps visitors and assist in directing guests to appropriate designations.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Corps Leader and Silvercrest Maintenance Team.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years minimum experience in maintenance work.
• Clean MVR.
• Working knowledge and experience in maintenance and handy man duties.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
• Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
• Must be able to work under minimal to no supervision, if necessary.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Driving test and clean MVR (if applicable).
• Working knowledge and experience in maintenance and handy man duties.
• If working within the vicinity of children, a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
